The president-elect of the United States, Barack Obama, said here Monday that the U.S. auto industry is too vital to disappear, but dismissed the idea of a "blank check" to help the automakers without a plan to long term.
"We can not allow the auto industry simply disappear. What I said is that we can not sign a blank check for the automotive sector," Obama said in a press conference.
